Florida Department of Education Certification Renewal

General information regarding certificate renewal:
  • To renew the certificate 6 semester hours of college credit should include at least one semester hour in teaching the students having disabilities must be earned over each renewal period.
  • All the requirements for the renewal must be completed before the last validity period of the Professional Certificate as well as prior to the expiration of the Professional Certificate.
  • The application form with the fee has to be submitted during the last year of the period of the certificate and before the expiration of the Professional Certificate.
  • For the renewal a grade of at least "C" need to be earned in each college course. Also, a grade of "pass" or "satisfactory" is an admissible grade.
  • In case a subject is removed from the certificate on the request of the certificate holder, all requirements with an application are submitted to add the deleted subject again.

  • A School should have tested 90 percent or even more of its students.
  • Schools that did not meet eligibility requirements, did not get a school grade or school improvement rating.
