The State University of New York (SUNY) Student Loan Service Center (SLSC) is responsible for management of study loans and other financial aid to students. The service center is committed to deliver assistance to all Federal Perkins, Health Professions and Nursing Student studying across 29 university campuses.

SUNY Student Loan Forgiveness
The State University of New York (SUNY) allows students to apply for loan forgiveness or deferment under certain terms and conditions. Students can apply for loan forgiveness in the below mentioned cases.
- In-School (enrolled at least half time)
- Graduate Fellowship
- Rehabilitation Training
- Military Service Deferment
- Unemployment
- Economic Hardship
- Cancer Treatment
Note: Students can apply to avail 3 years of loan deferment. A 6-month grace period will automatically follow the approved period of deferment. To avail direct assistance regarding the loan forgiveness of deferment, call at

Who is Eligible for Loan Deferment Benefits?
The below students or applicants are eligible to seek loan deferment or forgiveness.
- All enrolled and attending students as regular in at least a half-time course of study at a designated education institute.
- All enrolled graduate fellowship program students approved by the Department of Education (DOE)
- Students engaged in graduate or post-graduate fellowship-supported study (such as a Fulbright Grant) outside the US
- Students attending a rehabilitation training program for disabled individuals approved by DOE
- Applicants engaged in public service that qualifies for cancellation of the loan
- Students experiencing an economic hardship as determined by the school (limited to 3 years)
- Applicants who are serving on active duty or performing qualifying National Guard duty
SLSC Albany Payment
SLSC student service center allows repaying the student loan payments. The payments can be made online by
Login into account. The payments are post to account after 1 to 3 business days after online payment. The student service center charges a service fee for all payments as under:
1. Students will be charged 3.95% of the payment amount and $1.00 extra on all online debit and credit card payments.
2. Students will be charged $1.95 for each online eCheck payment.
3. A $15 fee is charged by the center on all returned eChecks.
Pay Loans Via Automated Account Deduction :
The student loan service center charges on fee for opting to checking or savings account automatically debited payment. Students can apply for automatic amount deduction by filling out an
application form . The application can be mailed to the below address:
