These centers are funded and overseen by the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS). The services and programs offered through the Delaware State Service Centers include:
Community Food and Nutrition Programs
Food services and programs are provided by all State Service Centers in Delaware for individuals and families in need within communities. These centers distribute food items to those in need through outlets and mobile pantries. All nutritional services and programs receive funding from Catholic Charities and the Food Bank of Delaware.
Community Resource and Assistance Services
Emergency financial assistance is offered by all Delaware State Service Centers to low-income individuals and families for rent, utility bills, and other necessities.
Emergency and Transitional Housing Services
Shelter services or housing facilities are provided by Division State Service Centers in every county of Delaware to homeless families, seniors, and individuals. This program is funded by the State Federal government.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
The Delaware Energy Assistance Program (DEAP) is tailored for low-income individuals and families in the state to help with utility expenses such as natural gas, electricity, kerosene, coal, and propane. This program operates under the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) and is funded by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
Kinship Care Program
Assistance is provided by the Kinship Care Program to non-parental caretakers for the first six months of a child's life. This program covers essential needs of the child including clothing, housing, security, and education.
