Community Resource and Assistance Services
Acting as a community service center, the DeLaWarr State Service Center provides financial assistance to needy residents of Delaware for rent payments, electricity bills, and water bills.
Housing Services (Emergency and Transitional)
Authorized to provide housing to natural disaster victims and others, the center offers emergency shelters, permanent housing, and transitional housing facilities to low-income families, disabled individuals, and senior citizens, utilizing funds from the state and federal government of Delaware.
Food and Nutrition Programs
Providing daily food and nutrition programs for needy communities, the center ensures that low-income families, unemployed individuals, special needs children, and elderly persons receive hygienic meals through service stores and mobile outlets. This food program is funded by the Food Bank of Delaware and Catholic Charities.
Kinship Care Program
Designed for caretakers of newborn babies, the Kinship Care Program administered by the DeLaWarr State Service Center provides essential items such as milk, clothing, shelter, security, and healthcare services for the first six months of the babies' lives.
LIHEAP (Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program)
Aimed at customers residing within New Castle County, LIHEAP assists families with low incomes, unemployed individuals, and individuals with special needs in covering utility expenses such as electricity, coal, gas, kerosene, propane, and other forms of energy. This program is funded by the United States Department of Health & Human Services (HHS).
Community Services Block Grant (CSBG)
Intended for low-income families and communities, the CSBG program aims to alleviate poverty and empower families by organizing events, debates, training, and education programs for children, youth, and unemployed individuals.
