Flood Map Service Center (FMSC) is an official online service that provides information about flood prone areas in USA. The service is aimed to provide details regarding flood risks, preparation, area identification and etc. The Flood map service center works in co-ordination with National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and help citizens to get information regarding the flood risks. The main services of the Flood map service center include the following:

  • Flood Maps: The service center provides map locations about the flood prone areas to identify the location. The maps are provided according to area address and other factors. Flood maps are provided to help citizens to identify areas having highest risk of flooding.
  • National Flood Hazard Layer: This program is meant to provide geospatial database for current flood hazards. The data is provided to help insurance agencies to understand level of flood risk and type of flooding.
  • Change Your Flood Zone Designation: The flood map center offers map amendment or revision request to change the address of flood prone area. The change of address makes a property owner eligible for not paying the property tax.
  • Risk Mapping: The Flood service center works in association with federal, state, tribal and local partners across to Risk Mapping, Assessment and Planning to reduce effects of flooding.
  • Flood Insurance: The service center recommends areas eligible for flood insurance. The insurance program is aimed to reduce the socio-economic impact of floods.
  • Guidance and Reports: The standards and guidance provides flood risk analysis and mapping activities. The reports help administration in Floodplain management.

  2. Enter address, a place, or longitude/latitude coordinates in the search box
  3. The search results will show areas with high risk of flooding
  4. The flood service center provide various maps showing different types of flood areas.
