Houston Regional Intelligence Service Center

The fusion center operated by the Department of Homeland Security of the United States is in collaboration with the Houston Police Department (HPD). The following services are provided by the intelligence center:

• The primary function of the service center is the gathering, development, and dissemination of intelligence to other enforcement agencies. This includes information on terrorist attacks, criminal activities, terrorist capabilities, and intentions.
• The intelligence center collects, evaluates, and analyzes information, which is then shared with other departments to ensure the safety of the region. It serves as a command center for other enforcement agencies.
• The information gathered by the service center is disseminated to law enforcement agencies and other criminal justice entities.
• The intelligence service center acquires information from reliable sources and reputable agencies.
• In order to access the gathered information, only authorized individuals who are legitimate and duly authorized may do so.
• The center also oversees the training of intelligence officers designated to work within the intelligence center and gather information.
• The center is also authorized to identify, train, and hold agency employees accountable for their work.

Objectives of Fusion Center in Houston Texas

The fusion service centers in the Dallas and Houston areas are dedicated to addressing security and privacy-related concerns. The primary objectives of these fusion service centers are outlined below:

• To combat organized crime, serial offenses, and emerging criminal activities.
• To ascertain potential terrorist threats and facilitate the day-to-day operations of law enforcement.
• To amass information and intelligence aimed at forecasting trends in criminal activity or potential terrorist attacks.
• Presently, approximately 125 agencies are engaged in information gathering activities at the fusion center.
• The center also addresses emergency scenarios and responses to criminal attacks.
