With a capacity to accommodate 1,300 inmates across minimum, medium, and maximum security units, as well as special housing areas, the detention center caters to convicted inmates, under-trial prisoners, and other staff members. Inmate Services Unit
This unit is dedicated to providing support services such as reminding citizens of court dates, preparing bonds, managing inmate accounts and visits. Additionally, it offers support in managing sentences, court dates, and release dates.
Classification Unit
Responsible for classifying inmates based on their cases and housing needs.
Food Services Unit
Tasked with providing over 1,350,000 meals annually to inmates.
Disciplinary Hearing & Investigations
This facility is dedicated to conducting disciplinary hearings within the detention facility.
How Do I Visit an Inmate?
The county detention center permits visits from family members, friends, and relatives of the inmates. Visits can be scheduled through the methods outlined below.
Onsite Public Visitations
General public visitation onsite is facilitated through a video visitation terminal at the detention facility. Onsite visitation hours are from
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday Through Saturday. However, visits must be scheduled 24 hours in advance. To schedule a visit, access the

Remote Visitations
To visit an inmate from home via internet video conference, create a visitation account on the
Securus website.

The Jefferson County Detention Center enforces specific regulations for inmates. Upon arrival, all currency is confiscated from inmates, and deposits are made at the inmate service unit. This money is then placed into the inmate's account for personal use throughout their incarceration. Family and relatives can make deposits into an inmate's account between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m. at the jail's inmate services unit.
The Jefferson County Detention Center accepts the following forms of payment:
- Checks from other law enforcement agencies
- U.S. currency
- U.S. Postal Service money orders
- Cashier's checks
- Certified funds, payable to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO)

Personal checks or credit cards are not permitted for deposit at the Inmate Service Center, and direct cash exchanges with inmates are prohibited.
