The Multiple Service Center, also known as Multi-Service Center (MSC), operates as a nonprofit organization recognized under section 501(c)3. It attends to families and communities residing within impoverished areas across South King County. Below are the services and programs provided for individuals, families, and communities:
Food and Clothing Services & Support:
MSC offers hygienic and nutritious food to families and individuals through food banks located within the Federal Way School District and its surrounding areas/zip codes (98003, 98023, parts of 98001, 98032, 98422). Customers may access the food bank once weekly and select items akin to market shopping. They are required to provide their own box or bag for food collection between Monday, Wednesday & Friday: 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Housing Program for Youth and Families:
Shelter is provided to homeless seniors, families, and youth under the Youth and Family Homelessness Prevention Initiative Program. Additionally, one-time support for rental and crisis emergencies is extended to families and individuals. Women seeking refuge from substance abuse and homelessness are offered communal homes and support by the MSC service team.
Energy Assistance:
Financial aid is provided for power, wood, oil, gas, and propane expenses to consumers residing across South King County. Payments are made directly to utility providers by the service office. Assistance is contingent upon home type, income, and usage. Furthermore, MSC assists customers with sewer and water billings, subject to Federal (LIHEAP) income eligibility guidelines and residency within South King County.
Youth and Young Adult Services:
Programs are offered to support youth and young adults in completing graduation, enrolling in colleges or trainings, receiving mentorship, securing jobs, preparing resumes, accessing transportation, clothing, food, housing, and school supplies.
Tax Preparation Assistance:
MSC provides assistance through the United Way of King County’s Free Tax Preparation Program, offering volunteer aid for tax-related services.
Education Programs:
MSC offers various resources for students and educators, including free counseling and support for further studies. Assistance is provided to dropout students to re-enter education. Education department professionals assist students in obtaining General Education Development (GED) certificates, university degrees, and technical trainings.
Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program:
This program serves licensed residents in nursing homes, community offered homes, and similar facilities, aiming to safeguard and advance residential rights in compliance with state and federal laws. Service benefits are provided to eligible residents through certified volunteers.
