The Alabama Department of Revenue administers various taxpayer services. The following divisions are responsible for different aspects:

Income Tax Division

Responsible for administering individual income tax, business privilege tax, corporate income tax, partnerships, etc.

Motor Vehicle Division

Handles the issuance of vehicle titles, maintenance of vehicle records, insurance law, and the issuance of motor vehicles.

Business & License Tax Division:

Administers and collects taxes for motor fuels, severance, and tobacco. Oversees licenses for businesses and motor fuels.

Sales & Use Tax Division

Collects and enforces various taxes, including sales tax and consumers tax, and is responsible for administering, collecting, and enforcing those tax types.

Property Tax Division

Controls the valuation, equalization, assessment of property, and collection of all Ad Valorem taxes.

Office Of Taxpayer Advocacy

Provides the Taxpayer Bill of Rights, forms & information, and access to B.E.S.T. resources.

Office Of Economic Development

Offers tax incentives for industries, expanding industries, and new industries.

Taxpayer Programs Division

Promotes programs and initiatives that protect and benefit Alabama taxpayers.
