Shipley State Service Center serves its clientele through the provision of the following services:
Food & Emergency Shelter
This entails the distribution of emergency food provisions to needy households, sourced from the Food Bank of Delaware and Catholic charities, via food closets or mobile pantries. Funds are disbursed to private or non-profit entities for the provision of emergency shelter or housing accommodations to homeless families.
Social Services (DSS) Programs
This encompasses the provision of cash assistance, nutrition assistance through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), child care services, and Medicaid to low-income households.
Family Visitation Centers
These services cater to households grappling with a history of custody disputes, domestic abuse, and violence. Strategically situated statewide, these centers facilitate safe visitation and exchanges.
Kinship Care Program
This program is tailored to furnish aid in the form of clothing, healthcare, educational materials, etc., to caregivers of children during the 180-day transition period when the child is placed under the care of a non-parental guardian.
Public Health
Clients are afforded access to services such as the Child Health Clinic, family planning, dental clinic, pregnancy testing, etc. These services are geared towards the low-income strata of society.
Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Under this program, low-income households unable to meet the costs of home energy expenses receive complimentary energy assistance in the form of electricity, natural gas, kerosene, etc.
