Ventra is the card intended for paying transit fares for trains and buses. The pass can be acquired via the Ventra App to purchase passes and add value at CTA rail stations. Alternatively, the Ventra online portal is designed to facilitate customer operations, addressing issues such as lost or stolen Ventra Cards, registration, and management.

How Ventra Works for Customers

Ventra works with Apple and Google Pay to make mobile payments and customer does not need to create separate transit account to make payment.
Alternatively, open the ventra App to add a ventra card with Google Pay, iPhone, or Apple Watch to pay for transit and passes. To pay using mobile wallet visit Ventra Mobile Wallet

Ventra Card Activation Support & Services

To activate a Ventra card received by mail, customers must call the customer care number at 1.866.674.9215 from the registered phone number linked to their Ventra account, enter the card number, and start using the card.

Transit Benefit Service Program

The transit benefit program provides employees with various benefits, offering pre-tax income of $270 per month to reduce travel expenses for CTA, Pace, and Metra. More details are available at Transit Benefit.

Finding Ventra Card Expiry Date

Customers can find the expiry date of "silver Ventra Cards" on the front, while "new blue Ventra Cards" have a longer expiry date of 20 years, located on the back of the card. Ventra cards on Google Pay, iPhone, and Apple Watch do not have an expiry date.

Ventra Card Registration Check Service

To check the status of the ventra card if registered or not visit Account Login
In case the card is not registered then visit www.ventrachicago.com/register-account to create online ventra account. Moreover, the online account can also be used to register a U-Pass, student Ventra Card, or an RTA at discounted rates.

Managing Transit Account

To manage the transit account, register an account and navigate to manage accounts for support with transit balances, adding transit value, and purchasing passes online.

Paying with Contactless Bankcards

Contactless bankcards securely transmit data through radio waves when tapped on the card reader. Cards with the Wi-Fi Symbol can be used as Contactless Bankcards to make payments for CTA and Pace.
