In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Service Program
The In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) program, funded by LA County, caters to senior citizens aged 64 and above, as well as disabled individuals with temporary or permanent disabilities such as deafness, muteness, blindness, among others. This program is designed for individuals residing in their own homes, nursing homes, and community centers.
IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) Program Benefits
Eligible individuals or groups can access various benefits provided under the IHSS program, including home cleaning, food services, grocery delivery, laundry, medical assistance, and personal care services such as bathing and grooming.
IHSS Service Program Eligibility
To qualify for all listed services and program benefits, individuals must be permanent residents of California and physically present in the United States. They must be aged 65 or above, receiving Medi-Cal benefits, and living in an apartment or house. Note: Individuals residing in nursing homes, long-term care facilities, or registered community centers are ineligible for IHSS service benefits and programs. Eligible individuals must submit a Health Care Certificate from a licensed health specialist along with an IHSS application form. Applicants must have a recognized disability as determined by the Social Security Administration (SSA) and be eligible to receive Supplemental Security Income (SSI) or State Supplemental Payments (SSP). Individuals must not possess assets exceeding $2,000, and for couples, the limit is $3,000.

The IHSS (In-Home Supportive Services) provider, a registered and compensated member of the program, interacts with the recipients. To become an IHSS provider, the following steps must be followed:
In Person Enrollment
Providers must first enroll at the customer service office of DPSS. Currently, all DPSS (Department of Public Social Services) offices are closed due to the Covid19 pandemic. Temporary orientation for enrollment is offered at all DPSS CSC (Customer Service Centers).
Enrollment Via Phone
To gain access to all IHSS service programs, call
(888) 822-9622 and request enrollment. A service representative will send an enrollment and orientation packet. After watching the online enrollment video, the provider must complete the enclosed form.
IHSS II El Monte Background Check-Up
Providers must undergo fingerprinting for background checks. If denied by the IHSS County office for any offense, appeal to the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) by completing the appeal form
